Studying El Greco this week. Dusted off some old ballpoint pen drawings to kick it off.

Working on a bird themed calendar. Not sure of the style so working through some sketches to see what strikes me.

Learning the shapes with these sketches. Chickadees are just crying out to be spoofed!

Silhouettes

I was watching one of my favorite actors, Denzel Washington, in The Equalizer 3 the other day. Not sure who to credit for this, but there were multiple scenes with basically two tones - A dark foreground and silhouette of Denzel against a lighter foreground. It looked great - very graphical. There were various textures used as well, giving it a painterly feel on top of it all. Did a quick sketch to remind me of it.

Block Head

This time of year gets me thinking about Charles Schultz’s Peanuts characters and my favorite old-timey disparagement - “Block head!”

Working on designing characters based on Cate & me for the hero page animation. Usually I can nail someone fairly quickly but having trouble capturing Cate so going back to basics and working the design. Here’s what we’ve got so far

Wasn’t getting a good spoof of Cate even at this basic level so…

Went back to Block Heads and other assorted shapes. WIP.
